The Mark Twain House in Connecticut exhibits his quotes about other authors. In a visit there two years ago, my sisters and I found this one especially amusing. Despite his harsh words, it appears he read Jane Austen, and not just once. I'd love to have Jane and Mark over for dinner. Throw in Wilde, Allende and Hemingway. (Ayn Rand and Gabriel Garcia Marquez could be understudies.) Can you imagine how the conversations would go? Do you folks realize how much spare time I have to be thinking about such things?June 27, 2007
