Who is Paul? According to one of the film's posters, he's a fugitive celebrity slacker joker alien, perfectly voiced by Seth Rogen. On the run from the government, he accidentally meets Graeme Willy (Simon Pegg) and Clive Gollings (Nick Frost). The two British geeks are on a pilgrimage to known UFO sites in the USA after attending Comic Con. Aboard their rented RV, the Traveller Beagle, they soon find themselves in the sci-fi road trip of a lifetime to help Paul go home.Along the way, the trio pick up foes and friends, like Jason Bateman, Bill Hader, and Joe Lo Truglio as federal agents; Kristen Wiig's Ruth Buggs and her father Moses Buggs (John Carroll Lynch). The cameos and the iconic movie references sent me to nerd heaven. I think we can safely say the film's creators had Steven Spielberg's seal of approval. They lovingly satirize Earthlings' love for sci-fi and all things alien. Funny, coarse, raunchy, it does have a sweet, sentimental Reese's Pieces' heart.
