A Class Act
We here at Stage-Notes are so happy that Broadway's Jessica Chastain won Best Actress - Motion Picture Drama for Zero Dark Thirty at the Golden Globes last Sunday (Jan. 13). Visibly moved, she gave a heartfelt and classy acceptance speech. Incidentally, she also won Best Actress at the Critics Choice on Thursday (Jan. 10) and like a true theatre nerd, quoted Brecht! To view that acceptance speech, click here.
We wish her all the luck this awards season!
Here's a clip of her in the Golden Globes Press Room Q & A. OK, I admit that I am biased but just listen to her answers. So insightful, intelligent and answered with poise. If you can't hear the questions, they are:
> how would she respond to the movie creating controversy
> where does she think Maya goes
> what were her struggles as an actress that she eluded to in her acceptance speech -- even answering this she gets teary eyed
> reaction to Jodie Foster's speech
> reaction to her Oscar nomination and Kathryn Bigelow snub
> How she interpreted Maya
> How she selects roles
> What was Kathryn Bigelow's reaction to the Oscar snub
