(Image from Rotten Tomatoes)Would you like a side of atheism with your popcorn? The Golden Compass is opening tomorrow. Based on Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials book trilogy, it has been called the antithesis of C. S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia for supposedly anti-Christian messages. The Catholic League has called for its boycott. However, Pullman has found an unlikely supporter in the Anglican church's Archbishop of Canterbury. Dr. Rowan Williams has said that the series should be used in religious education because learning about other spiritual perspectives nurtures a more mature faith.
Well said.
