The New York City Opera has commissioned Charles Wuorinen to compose an opera based on Ang Lee's Oscar-winning film Brokeback Mountain. The 2005 movie is about 2 ranch hands who fall in love in 1963 while working together on the fictional Wyoming mountain. Their relationship lasts two decades. The ground-breaking and heart-tugging movie was an adaptation of Annie Proulx's short story. The opera is set to premiere in spring 2013.
Ennis and Jack, I wish we knew how to quit you.
