I love a good old-fashioned musical...toe-tapping, laugh-out loud funny, no obvious attempts to be dark, edgy or ground-breaking. It's nice to be self-aware, but not too much that you get the feeling while watching that everyone involved is patting each other on the back on how clever they're being. Having thoroughly enjoyed Spamalot during previews three years ago, re-watching it remains ridiculously fun. It's still absurd, politically incorrect, energetic. The house wasn't full, but the cast still brought the house down.

Great writing, Lani! Glad to see you're back. Spamalot was one of the very few musicals I've seen lately (meaning past 3 years!) and Marc and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
