Happy 125th Birthday
Boston Pops! One of my enduring childhood memories was watching
Evening at Pops in my parents' room with my sisters.
Conductor
Keith Lockhart. He led the world-renowned orchestra in a tribute to Arthur Fiedler (Pops Conductor 1930-1979) featuring the
Light Cavalry Overture, The Typewriter, and Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. This was followed by a tribute to John Williams (Pops Conductor 1980-1993, Conductor Laureate 1993-present):
Star Wars main title and the
Flying theme from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. The
Raiders March was in the program but omitted from the performance.
The adroit pianist Michael Chertock performing
Rhapsody in Blue.
The Beatles:Rock Band sing-along featuring
Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, With a Little Help from my Friends, Twist and Shout, and
Yellow Submarine. There were some initial technical difficulties but it was eventually fixed. The video game was developed by Massachusetts-based company Harmonix Music Systems.

Official merchandise included Idina bags and T-shirts. Rent and Wicked fangirls were out in full force.
Perfect evening of music under the stars.
