Who Needs a Group Hug?
This past Labor Day weekend, we stumbled upon a movie set near Grand Central Terminal. The fake working title is "Group Hug". When we looked it up online, we found out it's The Avengers movie, written and directed by the one and only Joss Whedon.
Here are the scenes of destruction and mayhem.

Delirious with Glee

Neil Patrick Harris will guest star on Glee! What could possibly make it even better? Joss Whedon is directing it! No, it won't be a High School Musical version of Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog. If only. *sighs* I can barely contain my excitement. Jane Lynch. NPH. Whedon. Epic.
The new season of Glee starts 13 April 2010 on Fox.

Joss Giddy with Glee!

If you saw Buffy the Vampire Slayer's musical episode, "Once More with Feeling", and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, you know that boy genius Joss Whedon knows his musicals. He confirmed that he will be directing an episode of Fox's Glee!
My heart is full.

Emmy update
Joss Whedon finally won an Emmy for Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog! The category was short format live action entertainment program. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards were handed out last week. Oh and Intervention won instead of Kathy Griffin's My Life on the D-List :(The 61st Primetime Emmy Awards are still going on. Neil Patrick Harris is doing a terrific job as usual(Kudos Marc Shaiman on NPH's opening song!) Jeff Probst was right: this is the way to host the Emmys. Hurray for Kristin Chenoweth (Tony/Emmy winner Cheno was genuinely touched and surprised by her win. Great funny speech.) The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Grey Gardens, The Amazing Race (although Phil didn't win), Hugh Jackman's opening number for the Academy Awards.
More later...
Edit (from Pinky, 11:09 pm CT): Paramedics were called for Kristin Chenoweth backstage at the Emmys. To read about it click here.

In the Dollhouse
Whedonites rejoice! My other favorite Vampire Slayer is back on TV! Eliza Dushku stars in Fox's Dollhouse, created for her by man-genius Joss Whedon. The show premieres tomorrow night at 9 PM. Finally something to watch on Friday nights.

Who wants to be a Super-Villain?

The wait will soon be over, fellow Whedon-verse fans. If you missed the webisodes, the DVD of Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog will be released this Friday 19 December! It is Joss Whedon at his best: weaving a story that's full of wit, silly fun and enough pathos that will leave you just a bit devastated by the end. The songs are catchy and the acting is superb, led by the great NPH himself.

meanwhile back at the Whedonverse...

Awesomeness! Buffy/Angel/Firefly genius creator Joss Whedon finished shooting a 3-part internet musical called Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog. The episodes are ten minutes long. He wrote the musical during the WGA strike. Starring Neil Patrick Harris as super-villain Dr. Horrible, it also features Felicia Day as the cute girl from the laundromat that he's too shy to talk to, and Nathan Fillion (creepy priest Caleb from Buffy's final season) as the superhero who keeps beating him up. Life is beautiful.
Sidebar: NPH's How I Met your Mother co-star Alyson "Lily Aldrin" Hannigan turned 34 today! Happy Birthday! You'll always be Willow to me *sniffles*
Interesting factoid: Willow mentioned in a Buffy episode that she wrote Doogie Howser, M. D. fanfic as a young girl. The circle is complete.
